Volunteer

Be an Expert

ongoing/ as needed

Short term: Student in schools across Erie are participating in Earth Action programs. While a facilitator is leading the group through the program, they will often need an expert in anything from website construction, to gardening, to puppetry, to come into their classroom. This opportunity can suit a very wide variety of majors and interests so don’t be shy, and speak up about what you know or enjoy.

Facilitate an Earth Action Program

weekly, various times

Long term: Students can facilitate one or more Earth Action Programs from start to finish – devoting about 2-3 hours a week, per program, for a semester or longer. In doing so you will lead a group through Earth Action’s problem solving process which culminates in a student-created environmental group project.

Be a Mentor

weekly, various times

Long term: Students attend an Earth Action Program to be a role model and offer encouragement to a small group of students – devoting about 1-2 hours a week, per program, for a semester or longer.
