Stormwater, the New "Blue Gold"

A workshop on rainwater harvesting and decreasing stormwater runoff from residential properties.


Join Environment Erie for this educational workshop on how residents can reduce the impacts of stormwater runoff by practicing low impact development, harvesting rain water, using native plants in landscaping and getting to know your NEW rain barrel! Attendees will learn what low impact development is and how to encourage it in today’s world through best management practices that can be easily adapted to residential properties. Upon completion of the workshop, each participating household will receive a FREE Rain Wizard bin and stormwater handouts. There will be a fee of $20.00 per household to attend the workshop and limits of one bin per household, family members are welcome! Visit our member page to sign up to become a member today!

Compost: The New "Black Gold"

A workshop on diverting food waste & recyclables from our landfill.

Join the Erie County Recycling Program, Environment Erie, and Millcreek Township for this informational workshop on the philosophy of zero waste and proper procedures for diverting food waste, recyclables, and electronics from the waste stream with an emphasis on composting. Attendees will learn how to build and maintain a successful compost pile from everyday organic waste material as well as discover opportunities made available through local composting and recycling centers. Upon completion of the workshop, each participating household will receive one Compost Wizard Jr. bin and composting handouts. There is a fee of $20.00 per household to attend the workshop and limits of one bin per household. Family members are welcome! Being our compost workshop is in conjunction with other organizations we are unable to offer membership discounts or early bird sign ups.

Septic System Improvement Workshops

Environment Erie will host two homeowner workshops to share ways to protect the watershed, in which YOU live. Improvements and regular maintenance of your septic system will reduce the amount of excess nutrients being released into the watershed, providing a better habitat for aquatic species that share this fresh water resource with you and your family. FUNDING MAY BE AVAILABLE to help you offset the cost of improving your system through this Department of Environmental Protection, Growing Greener sponsored program.

Must ATTEND workshop to be eligible to apply!!!

$15.00 workshop fee per household
