Erie Pa., Bars and Restaurants Get Push to Recycle

Apr 11, 2012 | Posted in News

April 4 – Only about 10 bars and restaurants in Erie, Pa.´s downtown recycle, but that number could rise thanks to a new partnership.

The Erie County Recycling Program and Environmental Erie joined forces to create RecyclErie, an initiative targeting glass, paper, aluminum and cardboard being wasted at local restaurants.

So far, eight businesses have signed up since Feb. 1, according to the Erie Times-News.

RecyclErie provides businesses with two recycling bins and drink coasters with trivia, the paper reported.

Businesses also get free publicity in RecyclErie advertisements.

"I just love the fact we can recycle," Bertrand Artigues, owner and executive chef at Bertrand´s Bistro told the paper. "It´s not any more money. It´s a little bit of training for my help."
